Our April 16 Return to Derby included guest skaters from Jacksonville Roller Derby, Panhandle United Roller Derby (Ft. Walton Beach), Sugar Sands Roller Dolls (Panama City), All City Rollers (Lake City), Gainesville Roller Rebels, Atlanta Roller Derby, and Yellow Rose Derby Girls (Houston, Texas). It was a resounding success!
The first game featured a mixture of skill levels, from rookie to intermediate. Tallahassee's new skater Di and Gainesville's Coconut Slaughter were the high scorers for Team Orange with 35 points each. For Team Black, Thea-Saurus Wrecks (46 points) barely edged Ree Ziliant (45 points) as the highest scoring jammer. The game stayed close throughout, but Team Orange came out on top, 166-134.
The second game featured advanced level skaters, some of whom got their warmup in game one! Atlanta's (formerly Tallahassee's) Bold Move Buttons was the high scorer for Team Orange with 52 points, followed by Gainesville's Patti Smithereens with 50 points. For Team Black, Freak Show (28 points) and Jacksonville's (also formerly Tallahassee's) Manta (27 points) were the high scorers. Unfortunately, this game was not close for long and Team Orange won in convincing fashion, 172-110.
